Weekly Science Article Report #2 - Period 5

For a reminder, here's what to do for this assignment:
1) Citation: Here you will put the name of the article, the author, and where you found it (for example, the New York Times or Science News for Kids).
2) A brief summary: Here you will summarize the article in one or two sentences. This is to give your readers (including me) a sense of what you have read.
3) Reflection: This is the biggest part of your report. I am interested in your response to the article. Please address the following questions in your reflection:
a) What did you think about the article? Did you like it or not? Why?
b) What interested you or surprised you about the article?
c) What questions do you have about what you read? What would you like to know more about what you’ve read?

Your report is due Friday here on the blog.

By Monday, you will post comments on the work of three other students. Your comments should include:
1) One thing you appreciated/liked about their report - something you think they did well.
2) One suggestion you have for how they might improve their work in the future.
As always, I look forward to reading your work.

My article is called "Two monkeys see a more colorful world" by anonymous from Science News for kids. It is about two monkeys who where once blind to red and green, become able to see all of the colors, and in a whole new way. I liked the article and enjoyed reading it, I learned more about monkeys and about whats going on in science research now. I was interseted in this article because I like monkeys, and seeing the picture it kind of popped out at me. I would like to learn more about the subject, and I think that the topic is very interesting. I don't really have any questions about the topic, I feel very informed.

The name of the article I chose is called: Ready, Unplug, Drive, by Emily Sohn. I found it on: http://sciencenewsforkids.com/articles/20081029/Feature1.asp
This article, Ready, Unplug, Drive is about a car that will plug in to electric sockets, just like laptops, and video games. These cars called, "Plug in Hybrids", will get most of there power by electricity. The good thing about these cars is that they will not pollute the environment nearly as much as regular cars do now. These vehicles will reduce the amount of gasoline that we use. Scientists say that the first of its kind will be on the road by 2010.
I thought that this article was very exciting. I always thought that car companies might come out with these kinds of cars, but now it is more official. I liked the article very much because a lot of people could read it because it really catches your eye. It's very different because it is going to happen here, where we live. I think many people will enjoy these type of cars because they won't have to pay as much money, especially now, when the gas prices are rising.
What surprised me about this article was how soon they will come out with this car. I didn't realize it didn't take long to come out with this kind of thing.
I would like to know more about the science in the car and how it worked. How did someone come up with this idea? Why are people worried about getting gas too much?

Life under a glacier
http://www.sciencenewsforkids.com/articles/20090429/Note2.asp

The article is about blood falls. It’s at the top of a glacier in Antarctica and is mostly visited by scientists. Because of all the iron the water comes out red. When the water comes out from underground the iron is exposed to oxygen in the air and quickly forms the red rust. A geomicrobiologist (someone who studies how tiny orgasms effect or use minerals) made a very interesting discovery at blood falls. When she and her team studied the water, they found no oxygen but lots of dissolved iron. The water that goes to blood falls is from a very salty underwater lake. They think the underwater reservoir formed when a giant glacier, moved over the salty lake at least 1.5 million years ago. The glacier trapped the water and everything in it in an oxygen-free environment. Tiny creatures called microbes live there. They don’t need oxygen. Instead they use iron and sulfates which are chemical salts found in the water

I thought that it was really interesting how these tiny tiny creatures could survive without any oxygen and how they are able to use other things instead of oxygen. It’s also amazing how these scientists were able to determine how long ago the glacier had created the underground lake. The work that they do is like a puzzle but once they put all the pieces together it makes perfect sense!

This was a really interesting article. I never knew that any living thing could live without oxygen. The water they live in is unlike anything else for basically all water had oxygen in it. I learned a lot and found it very interesting.

The article I found is called:
MINI T. Rex, by Stephen Ornes.
http://www.sciencenews.org/view/generic/id/47613/title/FOR_KIDS_Mini_T._rex

The article I found was about a newly found dinosaur skeleton that is very familiar to a T. REX skeleton, but much smaller. This skeleton, found in China and named Raptorex kriegsteini, shares many similarities with a T. REX, such as: a large head, strong legs, specialized feet and tiny arms. Scientists beleive (because the Raptorex skeleton is much older than any T. REX skeleton ever found) that T. REXs may have evolved from Raptoexs, showing that the evolutionary ansestors of T. REXs were also fast and strong.

I really liked this article. I though it was interesting how scientists saw similarities between T. REXs and this newly discovered dinosaur. I was interested/surprised that the Raptoexs were an older version of a T. REX, because I would think that as the animals evolved, they would grow smaller, as to easily fit into smaller spaces. I would like to know why the Raptorexs grew larger to become a T. REX?

"Ig Nobel Prizes 2009 Awards Announced"

This article is about what the Ig Nobel Prize winners are for 2009 in the 6 categories. (medicine, chemistry, physics, public health, biology, and veterinary medicine) The Ig Nobels, in case you don't know, are prizes to the most eccentric of research.

I loved this article. It was fascinating to hear about these crazy topics! I never would have even begun to think about nameless vs. named cows, and how that effects their milk production (veterinary medicine winner) or why pregnant women don't tip over (physics winner). It amazed me what people questioned- and proved! They went to such extremes, like in the case of Donald L., who cracked only the knuckles on his left hand every day for sixty years (medicine winner). Or the thought that diamonds could be made from tequila (chemistry winner), or that bacteria in panda poop can reduce the size of kitchen waste, or to even THINK of inventing a bra that can convert into face masks!!! These people really thought outside the box... researching things the normal human would never even ponder.

I don't have many questions, except maybe how these people came upon these ideas. I'd like to know more, maybe, about their actual research more in depth, this article just told you who won, and what they did (I did delve further into some topics however on my own).

'World's Fattest Man'to Marry After Massive Diet
Fox News
http://www.foxnews.com/story/
0,2933,431616,00.html

This article is about the fattest man in the world who goes on a massive diet. He loses close to 700 pounds. Still, he weighs in around 1,235 pounds! He then marries a woman named Claudia Solis. On the day of his wedding he is rolled out on his wheel-equipped iron bed.

I liked the article but thought it was a little depressing. He can't walk and always needs to be in his iron bed or any other surface that will hold him. It surprises me that he managed to lose 700 pounds due to the fact that he sits around in bed all day. It also surprises me that he does not need to be on life support or at least be in a hospital.
I wonder if he has high cholesterol, diabetes, or high blood pressure. I would like to know more about what he did and what he ate or didn't eat to lose that 700 pounds.
I also would like to know how much he weighed when he was ten or fifteen years old. Could he even walk at that age?

I read an article called New Eyes to Scan the Skies at http://www.sciencenewsforkids.org/articles/20090520/Note2.asp It is about 2 telescopes that astronomers use. One of them is on Earth and detects large meteorites that are bigger than 300 meters and could destroy all life. The other one is not active yet but is scheduled to be launched on the year 2011. It is supposed to watch the entire galaxy.

I thought that it was an interesting article. I didn’t know that technology improves so fast. One question that I have is if the telescope on Earth detects a meteorite that is 300 meters or bigger, how would it destroy all Earth? It doesn’t sound big enough. And how would they destroy a meteor that big?

In Rural Africa, a Fertile Market for Mobile Phones By Sarah Arnquist.
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/06/science/06uganda.html?_r=1&ref=science&pagewanted=print
This article is about a 50 year old farmer Laban Rutagumirwa who lives and works in Bushenyi, Uganda. He uses his mobile phone to collect digital photos, establishes global positioning system, and tracks other farmer’s sick plants. He sends this data to scientists in the capital, Kampala.
I really enjoyed the article, it was very interesting. I always thought that Uganda was a 3rd world country and that they did not have that kind of technology. I was surprised that he even had a phone because he lives in a dirt floor home and has no electricity, to charge his phone. He uses a car battery, if the battery dies, he walks over four miles to charge it.
Questions:
1) How does he send messages to scientists wirelessly, in the capital, when the area he lives in has scarce electricity and nonexistent internet connections?
2) I also wonder how Africa is the fastest growing mobile phone market worldwide. How will be able to handle the demand?
3) In Croton, sometimes I have no service and dead zones, how is a rural village able to deal with this?

1.) My article was called “A Bird that Keeps the Beat.” It is by Emily Sohn. I found at science news for kids.

2.) This is about a cockatoo that dances to music. This special cockatoo is said to have entrainment, the ability to move ones body in time with music. It is very unlikely and special that Snowball can do this, because most animals can’t.

3.) A: I enjoyed this article a lot and thought it was very interesting and fascinating. I was really amazed when I saw the video of Snowball on U-tube, and thought it was so cool that this normal everyday bird could do this. I thought this article was also good because it was saying how until now only humans could dance to music.
B: What really surprised me about this article is that after scientist saw Snowball they started looking at other animals. They found 14 parrots that could dance and found 1 elephant that could dance. They also believe that other animals like dolphins, other song birds, other elephants, seals, and walruses will also be able to dance. I also thought it was interesting that his favorite song was “Everybody” by the Backstreet Boys.
C: The one thing I would like to know more about is if they can train animals to dance in time with music. I also would like to know if Snowball’s brain capacity is different then animals, and more similar to humans.

Mexican Axolotl

National Geographic

Summary: The Mexican axolotl pronounced ACK-suh-LAH-tuhl salamander article explains about how this creature is so rare because of the way that it evolved. It alsotell how gentle it looks can regenerate body parts if they get bit off. Also they are rarely seen out of the water

Reflection:
A}I liked this article because it was cool learn about this rare critter with these cool ways to adapt by being able to regrow body parts.

B}it suprised me that such a small critter would be a carnivore because it looks so small.

C} My question is why is having external gills a benefit because to me if you had gills that were external they could get eaten off and you would die.

My article is titled: Dogs smell cancer in patients' breath, study shows
By Stefan Lovgren
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2006/01/0112_060112_dog_cancer.html
This article explains how in a recent study, dogs can smell cancer in a patients' breath. They only need about 2 weeks of training and basically every household dogs can do it.

I really liked this article because not only do I love dogs, but i recently knew someone who passed away from lung cancer. In the article, it explains how lung and breast cancer patients' are proven to show patterns of biochemical markers in their breath, which dogs amazing scent can pick up.

What interested me in this article was that any household dog can do this spectacular task, and with only TWO WEEKS OF TRAINING. We should definitely in my opinion be raising more dogs to do this, because we will then diagnose cancer quicker with patients', thus being more successful with chemotherapy.

One question that I have about the article is how early can the dogs smell cancer. The author is not as clear about this part than all the other sections of the article.

What I would like to know more about this article is exactly why cancer cells emit different metabolic waste products than normal cells, which gives cancer it's distinct smell. Also, why can't dogs smell other types of cancer.
Overall I loved this article. Keep up the good work Mr. Lovgren.

1)My article was called Why People Lie – And how to Tell if They are by Gail Saltz. I got this article from the website www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4072816/.
2)The article was about why people lie, how they lie, and ways to detect if someone is lying.
3)I liked this article because it was kind of interesting to read things about why people lie that I hadn't know before. Two things that really stood out to me that I thought was really interesting, was that age people start lying (around 4-5 when they begin to understand the power on words) and also the things people do when they're lying, like a change of voice, turning they're body away, etc. I want to know more about why people lie, like what goes on in they're head. Not just because they want to hide the truth, everyone knows that, but more like where you do the lying in your brain and stuff like that.

1) The title of my article is called Two monkeys see a more colorful world by Neitz Laboratory, University of Washington. I got this article from Science news for kids.

2) This article is about how scientists of the University of Washington did an experiment to try to get the red and green colorblind monkeys to be able to see those two colors.

3) a) I liked this article because it taught me things that i did not learn. it was also interesting to find out the scientists methods.

b) it surprised me that the monkeys weren't able to see those colors and that scientists could actually accomplish such a big experiment.

c) my question is, why did they choose these two monkeys? And are they going to do this to more monkeys?

ilovepickles4ever: You did a really great job with your post. It was thorough, and to-the-point, with well-formed sentences. You picked a really interesting topic, and explained it well. I would suggest separating the questions/paragraphs better. It made it hard to read, because it was so close together. Otherwise, you did a fantastic job!!

Jan Straßer: You seemed really enthusiastic about your topic! You explained it really well, and wrote very passionately. It may have been a bit too passionate though. The all caps were a little distracting, and threw me off a bit. I would suggest either only writing a few in all caps, or underline/bold instead.

Oregontrvlr: You picked a really cool topic. I never heard of a salamander like that- it was really interesting to read. It was really creative and helpful of you to include the pronunciation of the salamander, it was a great idea. However, your sentences were slightly confusing, and I had to re-read some a few times. Great job though!

Dinosaurs Had ‘Earliest Feathers’
By Jonathan Amos Science reporter, BBC News

This article is about a paleontologist, (a scientist who studies forms of life existing in other geologic periods, as represented by their fossils) Xu Xing, who discovers dinosaur fossils in north-eastern China. The reason these fossils are so important, is that they show the oldest known feathers, which supports Xu Xing’s theory that birds evolved from dinosaurs.
I really liked the article, because I think it’s a really cool concept that birds-such a common species today-evolved from dinosaurs. I also think its amazing that the fossils stayed so intact, when the creatures are now almost 150 million years old. His theory is that dinosaurs started off with 4 wings, and as they evolved, the learned to fly with only 2. They call this newfound species Anchiornis. I wonder how long Xu Xing spent researching, and looking before he made this discovery. I would like to learn more about how the paleontologists can tell how long ago the creatures lived, just by looking at a fossil.

This is an article about how scientists have found a way to make smaller versions of nuclear batteries(down from giant ones for space satellites etc).

I really found this article interesting because i never thought of even using a nuclear batterie in the first place. I figured they had some means of powering the space satellites but never really concerned myself with it. I am really interested in this type of thing and would like to know more about how their batteries are going. They said they are still trying to make them even smaller so i would like to know if they have done it yet.

Also I think it's cool hoe people were even able to do that, it almost seems imposible but I guess it's not. I have a question though: how did they make them able to see those colors again. Like did they have surgery or something and could you also fo this to humans, like if someone was colorblind?
BTW, I like cheese cake too.

Title: Minds of their Own
Author: Virginia Morell
From: National Geographic

Summary: This article is about animals that show their intelligents, like the African gray parrot, the Border collie, the bottle nosed dolphin, ect.

Reflection: I like this article because I think that this article is very unique because it shows how intelligent animals can be, by showing how an African gray parrot named Alex, could count to ten.
What surprised me was how much work it took about five scientists to figure out how a single animal thinks. And what interested me was how a Border collie, (descendent of the Collie) has a vocabulary of more than 300 words, and can find toys by looking at pictures of the toy.
I would like to know if instead of just the African gray parrot, if other parrots can do things like Alex. I would also like to know if seals are intelligent as well.

Article: Justin Bieber – Biography
Author: Unknown
Where I got it from: http://artists.letssingit.com/justin-bieber-qlswd/biography

The article I found was about a 15 year pop sensation that was discovered when he was just 12 years old. His name is Justin Bieber. He never thought he could make it to where he is now because of his living conditions. He grew up below the poverty line and couldn’t have what all the other kids could have. He was discovered on YouTube where he posted videos of him in a singing competition so his friends and family could see. A few weeks later the record company flew him to Atlanta, Georgia where he also met Usher. Justin Bieber now hopes that he will be a inspiration for kids who want to follow their dreams. He advises them to never give up and even if you’re a small town kid like him you can make big dreams happen.
I loved this article. I really enjoy listening to his music and the interviews he does. I liked to hear about how he was just a normal kid who entered a singing competition for fun and became a singing phenomenon. I also liked how Justin Bieber says that he’s just like other people and even though he’s famous it doesn’t change who he is.
What really surprised me about this article is when Justin Bieber first went to meet the company and saw Usher Justin Bieber went up to him and said Hey Usher, I love your songs, do you want me to sing you one?” Usher simply replied, “No little buddy, just come inside, it's cold out.” Just a short time late Usher realized he had just said no to a former superstar. Weeks later Usher flew him back to Georgia and really wanted to sign for him. Justin Bieber took the deal and is now making his way to the top.
I have a few questions about his childhood and how exactly he grew up. I also would like to know why he chose singing and what inspired him to start singing. Other than those things I really have no further questions.

The name of this article is "What Makes a Dog?" By: Emily Sohn
It is from Sciencenewsforkids.com

This article is about what really is a dog, and how much alike they are. A St. Bernard and a Chihuahua are really from the same speicies. Poodles and pugs have different types or coatsbut also come from the same species.

I really liked this article. I liked it because it is about dogs and i am intrested in about anything dog. It has a lot of info too. What surprised me is how much two totaly different looking dogs, can come from the same species! Like a Chihuahua and a pit bull, they might look like one is an alien to the other, but really, there the same species! I really dont have any questions, this was a very discriptive article. But i wish the auther would put a little more info about the topic.

I really liked this article. It was so intresting and so different from all the other articles i've seen about dogs.

This article is about a male UCLA student slashing (cutting) a female UCLA student in the throat during science lab and she was been taken to Ronald Reagan-UCLA Medical Center. They closed off the Young Hall, where the lab is located.

I liked the article because it was very interesting because you don't normally hear that somebody has been cut in the throat in school. I was surprised that somebody actually did get cut in the throat in school because not a lot of people bring knifes to school. I want to know why the boy cut the girls throat because she must have done something pretty bad to him to make him that mad to cut her throat.

1) The name of this article is called In Surprise, Moon Shows Signs of Water. It is by Kenneth Chang. I found it on the New York Times website.

2) This article is mainly about how scientists may have found an amount of water on the moon.

3) a) I thought the article was okay. It still seemed like people are doing research on this. I think that they should be somewhat more definite on weather there really is water on the moon before they say anything, or put it in a newspaper.
b) It interested me about the fact that there might be water on the moon. And somehow maybe when people figure out how to convert a drop of water to a gallon we (meaning humans in general) may be able to live on the moon. That would be cool, the whole thought of it and all.
c) I want to know more about this in general. The article says that “You would have to scrape the area of a baseball field or a football field to get one quart of water”. I would want to know how many baseball fields could fit on the moon.

The article I read is called how many hours of sleep are really enough. The author is Kenneth G. Berge. I found it at http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/how-many-hours-of-sleep-are-enough/AN01487.

It is about how we need a certain amount of sleep and people are getting too busy to sleep like that. Also, people think that when they sleep just for about 4 hours they feel fine but really their body might feel fine but they are losing the opportunity to be better, and smarter and have a longer attention span.

I think that article was right in a lot of ways. I like it because the author really knew what he was talking about. While I was reading this article it said that people 8 to 13 should get at least 11 hours of sleep and I am thinking I definitely do not get 11 hours of sleep every day. In addition, when the author said that adults sleep less and less I thought my of parents and my dad almost never sleeps. So, I thought this article really hit the bull’s eye for sleeping habits.

What really surprised me about this article is that even if you feel wide awake you really will not do as well as you could if you are getting better sleep. Also, what surprised me is that it states in the article that no scientists has ever proved that children need a lot more sleep then people. I thought was very interesting.

I have a lot of different questions about this article. Here are a few. What really happens to you when you don’t sleep for 24 hours? Why can’t you concentrate when you do not sleep a lot? How long you can stay without sleeping?

The article I read is called, “NASA Telescope Discovers Giant Ring Around Saturn” It was written by the Associated Press.
The article talks about how the Spitzer Space telescope detected it using infrared light. The ring is the largest known in the area around Saturn and is made of ice and dust.
I really enjoyed reading the article, since it provided lots of info that answered many of my questions. I was surprised by the fact that this ring had not been discovered before, the fact that an infrared telescope has never once noticed this is extraordinary. However, I am still wondering what NASA or another space agency will do in response. Will they send a probe to investigate it and it’s affect on nearby moons? This article got me interested in what future secrets of our solar system will be discovered in the years to come.

This article was all about how people are starting to make better decisions about the enviorment. In a study it showed that the ozone layer is starting to recover. Scientists still say that it could take awhile for there to ba an signifigant difference.

I enjoyed reading about this subject because it can get depressing when all you hear about is how we are destroying the ozone layer. It is nice to hear some good news for once, i think if people start to hear about progression they will keep up the good work and not think what they are doing is a waste.

I was suprised and interested that there is actually some good news refering to the enviorment. Like I said all you hear about his how much we are killing the ozone layer and it was almost a relief to hear some good news.
I would like to know what exactly this change in the ozone would mean for us. Like would it help climate change? Or would new plants grow? Things like that.

My comments on oher peoples blog reports-

This is for miss0892. I thought your report was really interesting. I actully read that article when I was picking out an article to write about for my report. One thing I really liked about your report is how you kept your summary short, but were still able to inform me about the article. One thing I think you could improve on, however, is to try to keep your summary from entering your opinion. I do like how you described what you liked, though. Great Job!

This is for pikachu. I was really interested in your report. The ideas that won the nobel prizes sound amazing, and your right, they are not ideas an average human would think up. One thing I thought you did really well was explaining the article so clearly. I love how you included the winner for each topic. One thing you could improve on is in your citation. I would like to konow the name of the article and author, so I can look this topic up. Other than that, you did a really nice job.

This is for Bigsnow- I thought that your report was really well put together. I loved the topic you chose, and thought that it was really, really interesting. One thing I really liked was the personal reference you made about why you liked the artticle. One thing, however, that you could improve on is explaining what you are talking about. For example, you say "Metabolic Waste," and I find myself wondering what that is. Your report was excellent!

This is to Summer09:
I like how you expressed the article that you read. But I think that the summary was a bit to long. I think that you could explain a little more about how they took Justin Beiber to Atlanta. I also think that you shoud indent when you go on to the next pargraph.

This is to Dj hammers:
Your grammer was not very good in the beginning, and you didn't indent, so that got me really confused in what topic you were doing. I also advise you to do everything in order, so that nobody gets mixed up on what you're doing.

This is to Bob:
Your summary was very simple, and you had everything in order. You also made spaces in each paragraph, and that really helped. I think that you did a good job.

I enjoyed your article very much, it was interesting. I saw the YouTube video, it was so funny. It’s amazing that the Cockatoo can hit the beat on time. How was this bird trained?

ChickenNikeSoup

I was flabbergasted that a human could weigh over 1,000 lbs. I saw the wedding on TV, it was quite a spectacle. What did he do to loose 700 pounds? How did he get so obese, what disorder does he have?

Pikachu

I enjoyed your article very much. It was very interesting to read how people came up with these crazy theories and tested them. These ideas sound strange at first, but the results were amazing. I guess anything is possible if you put your mind to it.

~ I like the topic you chose, and how you put your own opinion into it.
~ Maybe you could label the questions (1,2,3 and a,b,c)

To ilovecheesecakeyesido09

~ I think that that is a really interesting topic. I also think that you did a good summary
~ I think that you could have written more for the reflection, and you could orginize it a bit better, maybe by putting line spaces inbetween sections.

To Jan StraBer

~ You had a great reflection to your article.
~ I think you should have included the title, or said that there was none. You should also have a shorter summary (1-2 sentances)

Mr. Ardito, this are my revised comments. Please ignore my original post.

I enjoyed your article very much, it was interesting. I saw the YouTube video, it was so funny. It’s amazing that the Cockatoo can hit the beat on time. I’m curious as to how the bird was trained or did it just start dancing on its own?

ChickenNikeSoup

I was flabbergasted that a human could weigh over 1,000 lbs. I saw the wedding on TV, it was quite a spectacle. I enjoyed the article. It was well written with good questions. A suggestion would be a little more background information on the person. What did he weigh when he was born? How did he get so obese, what medical condition does he have? Why didn’t he take care of his weight when it was more manageable?

Pikachu

I enjoyed your article very much. It was detailed and you provided many examples. It was very interesting to read how people came up with these crazy theories and researched and tested them. These ideas sound strange at first, but the results were amazing. I guess anything is possible if you put your mind to it.

I really love the article you chose and how you explained it. I also thought it was really put together. I think that you could explain a little more what metabolic waste products and biochemical markers.

To spots101:
I like how you related your personal life to the article. I think it was really well written.
What do you mean that the author really knew what he was talking about? Was he a scientist? You could explain it further.

To Summer09:
I really liked how you told the article and how you detailed it. You could explain it a little shorter, and I also thought you could explain the childhood questions a little more.

I liked how the article you picked really catches the readers eye. I also like how you showed how the article actually made you feel. I think you should have made the summary just a little longer just so you could give the reader a little more information.

To:
Dashygurl101
I really liked how you wrote about something you liked and showed your interest in it. I think that next time you should check the spelling a little more to make your article better than it already was.

To:
Ilovechesecakeyesido09
I really liked how you went outside the box and found something really interesting. I think that next time you may want to make it a little longer and make new paragraphs

My comments

THIS IS TO Summer09. I like your article a lot. One of the reasons I really liked it is that it showed that even though you Justin wasn’t as wealthy as others , he still had big talent that can get him far. I think that the article should have written more about Justin’s life and if he had children and more about his singing career.

To ChickenNikeSoup. I thought that your article was interesting. I also thought that it was very sad that the fattest man in the world can never walk and as to be taken around with the iron bed. I thought that it pulled me in and it made me want to find that article right away and learn more about him. I think that you could have added more about how many pounds he was before his diet and a little more detail on his wedding. All in all I thought though that the article was very well written.

This is to Bigsnow. I was really interested in your article. When i was looking over all the comments, just your title made me stop and want to read the article. I loved that you put in a lot of great wording. I also thought that your questions were really well thought out, i saw myself asking the same things. I wish you talk a little more about how you train a dog to be able to do that and a little more about if they are starting to use the dogs in hospitals. But I thought that it was very well written.

I liked your article very much. One reason why i liked it was because i like Justin Bieber very much. I also liked it so much because it was very well written. I think that you should write more about his childhood, and maybe his feelings, (if you can find that).

This is for: pikachu:
I found your article very interesting. I found it interesting because it's a topic I would not even think to write about. I thought that you could write more detail on the different topics. But otherwise, it was great!

This is for: ChickenNikeSoup:
I thought this article was different, but interesting. It was interesting because you wouldn't think that someone having to be wheeled around would get married! You could put a little more detail, though i liked it very much.

DJ hammer I thought you did a good job and I also wonder about the same questions you do. I think you could've gone a little more in depth but otherwise great job

Pikachu I really enjoyed reading your post because it was well written and the topic you picked was interesting. I agree that you have to be special to think of an idea worthy of a nobel prize and it makes me wonder where society would be with out these kind of people. The only problem is your i wasn't sure where to find the article.

Spots101 I thought your article was very interesting, I no that this topic of sleep deprivation is closely studied now a days. I also agree that I do not get nearly enough sleep. There is a new study saying that you should only get 8 hours of sleep because there is such thing as too much sleep. If you are really interested in this stuff then you should look in to that. I didn't find any problems with it.

I thought it was really interesting how people are finally worrying about the environment. We have been guzzling gas and we have finally found an easier and more environmental replacement. I liked how you broke down the article and explained it in a very simple but yet sophisticated way. One thing you could add would be if you would buy one of those cars. I liked yours a lot. I don’t really know what could have been

this is for summer09:
I really liked this article a lot. I like the message it gave out and I like how you worded it. From your choice of article I can tell that you like Justin Bieber and I do too! I liked every thing but the only thing I would add is that I didn't know what it had to do with science. However now that I think about it I’m not sure if the article you choose had to be about science. I’m not quite sure. Liked what you wrote though.

Wow, the article was so interesting. I didn't now that dogs could be trained to smell cancer. That might really help doctors catch the cancer early and destroy it before it’s to late. It’s a really interesting discovery and I am sure that it will be very useful in the future. The only thing I wish you had added was how you train a dog to smell cancer. I really liked what you wrote though.
